BA (Hons) Illustration
Phil Launchbury
During my illustration degree, I have explored how to communicate and raise awareness of relevant social issues through a distinctive and contemporary illustrative practice. I am constantly looking for new opportunities to expand my creative practice, challenge and educate myself; being a young, queer artist I find it increasingly important to inform and engage my audience in personal experiences, creating open narratives around topics such as gender identity, mental health and inclusivity.
I am passionate about using illustration in a tactile way to reflect my research in the importance of touch and human connection through interactive art, broadening my practice in multidisciplinary image making and 3D soft sculpture forms. Finishing my degree under difficult circumstances has taught me how to be more resilient and adaptable in my working methods, effectively combining 2D and 3D mediums and balancing traditional and digital illustrative to adapt my work for different platforms.
