Raven Stella Lane

BA (Hons) Fine Art

BA Fine Art work by Raven Stella Lane showing 4 A0 prints of digital paintings of unrealistic bodies, a plinth with a yellow display head (found object) and a cast of the head split into two with one half on each side of the display head.

Throughout my studies in art, I have explored a love for the body and form and the different ways you can present the human form and contort the image of the body to the viewer. I have developed my skills in digital art due to the pandemic, allowing me to create works at a quicker pace and with textures that I would have found difficult to create in a physical piece. It also means I can use the same colour pallets within a series of work.

As my creative practice has become more proficient during my studies at university, so has my knowledge of artists and their practice. My current favourite artist is Rebecca Warren, who I was introduced to through a group tutorial in my third year. Her creative practice plays with the human form through large-scale sculpture which allows people to move around the pieces and allows conversations and questions to flow and see the body from a different light.
