Rebecca Hills
BA (Hons) Graphic Design
I am a Graphic Designer, specialising in Editorial Design, Design for Print, and Book Cover Design. My creative practice focuses on abstract ideation and conceptual approaches to publishing, considering the physicality of the publication as a printed object. I utilise a combination of analogue and digital printing techniques to curate innovative responses reflective of the context and subject matter.
For the duration of my degree, I obtained extensive technical experience in typesetting and layout design, including using grid systems to identify spatial arrangement within the page composition, typographic hierarchy to categorise the information, and developing cohesive design schemes to form a clear visual structure.
As a designer, it is my responsibility to employ these design fundamentals to showcase and enhance the written content through composed narrative and intuitive navigation. I strive to inform and engage the readership by challenging design conventions and redefining what we recognise as the standard publication form. Through considered design and tangible, shared experience, we can all value the importance of storytelling through the printed page.
