BA (Hons) Fine Art
Growth and form within nature are key themes to my fine art practice. Lichen, moss and fungi are an integral part of my inspiration, as I am fascinated by their shapes, structures and patterns. Abstraction is my main style. By using simple and often imaginary shapes I aim to draw attention to these natural forms and emphasise their structures which gives a new perspective on often unnoticed elements of nature.
I use a variety of mediums and techniques within my practice, including drawing, print, animation and sculpture but my primary focus is creating installations. To construct them I use my intuition to allow the work to grow organically around the space, letting the surroundings become part of the artwork. Public art has become an important area within my practice, permitting my work to move beyond the white cube environment. I intend for the viewer to have an experience interacting with both the art and its surroundings.
