Saul Lane

BA (Hons) Games Art and Design

A dimly lit prison cell with salvaged furniture, ominous markings and scratches decorate the walls, and bright sky-light glows through a hatch on the ground.

Saul Lane is a concept artist with a keen interest in the process of visual storytelling and world-building. Throughout his work, he explores the relationship between the world and the people who inhabit it whilst using these ideas to put forward unique narratives that bring them to life.

A wide-open, spherical observatory with a view of a foggy island below. Two people engage in conversation at opposite ends of a long table in the center of the observatory.

During his time at NUA, Saul has honed his creative and illustrative abilities. Through processes such as silhouettes, thumbnailing, and iteration, Saul efficiently explores and develops a range of ideas for new projects. When ideas are ready to move forward, Saul employs the use of contemporary visual development methods such as ‘photobashing’ and 3D to refine ideas into useable references and sources for a larger project or team.

Saul hopes to bring his skills to a like-minded team, working with them to envision and create new worlds, characters, and experiences for everyone to enjoy.

Different angles of an industrial airship design. A profile view, front, and bird's eye view show off the various design elements.
A large wooden sled with a boat-like hull, decorated with colourful flags and a ice-sculpture figurehead of a woman holding a torch.
An isometric cut-away view of a tall, large, dimly-lit tent. A blue magical ice map glows in the center of the tent, with a set of three thrones sitting in front of it.
