Sophie Ebbage

BA (Hons) Design for Publishing

A selection of hand lettering pieces by Sophie Ebbage. Shows a variety of lettering styles.

I am a Graphic Designer with a passion for Editorial Design and Typography. During my time at NUA, I worked as the Design Director of the Students’ Union in-house magazine, Storehouse. I oversaw the publication over two issues, leading the design direction and co-managing the editorial team. This role required a strong eye for detail, leadership skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines.

During my Design for Publishing degree, I have developed and explored my passion for typography, type design and lettering. I am hungry to continue developing my understanding of typography and lettering within the industry.

Throughout my practice I have discovered a love for historically informed design – I am currently enjoying exploring blackletter and medieval manuscript design. As part of my exploration, I have completed the ISTD student assessment. My outcome ‘Babel’ was awarded commendation and membership into the society.
