BA (Hons) Illustration
Tamsin McLaughlan
I am a traditional illustrator who has been able to develop my skills and interests further whilst at university. I used my distinctive style and vibrant colours of illustration, that I have been developing whilst studying, to create a children’s book “The Dog that Buried Socks”. This is a playful comical story with a lovable relatable character for children to enjoy reading. I used Gouache to paint a colourful environment that they can imagine visiting and playing with the animals.
I have also been able to develop my interest in surface pattern design in my final year, this stemmed from working in retail stores Cath Kidston and Joules.
Dogs are a big inspiration for my work so creating a project where I designed patterns to create unique harnesses and collars for dogs to wear was an exciting project to work on in my final unit of my degree.
