Tiril Schjerven

BA (Hons) Games Art and Design

An old woman blowing white dust that turns teal towards a child kneeling in front of a big pillar.

I’m a Concept Artist for Video Games that specialises mostly in Character Design, however, I’ve been making an effort to grow my skills to a more generalised approach during my university degree. I have a love for designs that feel out of the ordinary, push the common design approach, and drive an emotional connection to the art. So, this is what I try to communicate in my own work as well. My final project was a way for me to try and spend more time putting love into an idea, and really explore it. I wanted to make the world I was building feel full of depth and potential, and for my final renders to emit the liveliness of culture in said world.

An infographic of the white pigment used in the ceremony of colour, and an illustrative piece of the Shaman who does it.

Alongside my university degree, I’ve gone from Art Intern to Freelance Concept Artist at Jagex for the MMORPG Old School Runescape, working on pre-production, and concepts for environments, characters and props. In addition to assisting on refining the art style alongside the rest of the art team.

Awarded TIGA Graduate of the Year: Artist
