In trying to tell a story (Man’s Best Friend) about friendship and social isolation, I found my style and niche in storytelling using black comedy and a satirical perspective. This allowed me to mock the serious actions of the plot and make light of it to bring awareness to the unexpected consequences of loneliness, trying to bring a thematical reasoning to the juxtaposition of tone.
I like to play with mixing of genre and tonal shifts, wanting to tell a story in a new and unique way, with a reason behind every creative choice. Ultimately, I want to create and focus on a character and their specific reactions to the world around them, with increasingly absurd actions that are unexpected but not out of place within the story. Dark comedy from the plot and interactions instead of one-off gags helped me focus on the satirical portrayal of the protagonist and their struggles for a highlight of the lengths that someone can go to when pushed to their limits.
