Tomas Jake Ashmore
BA (Hons) Architecture
I am Tom Ashmore, I’m from Skegness. I went to college to study Engineering, then came to NUA to challenge myself in Architecture.
In the Beach Lido project, we started off by working as a team to create an urban study. Communication skills kept everything organised and on time, ensuring no one fell behind due to confusion or clashing work. The drawings were all done on Vectorworks, so that they could all be done accurately, and then they are edited in Photoshop to bring them to life. The drawings show my thinking in 2D but most importantly in 3D and how the life cycle of the project changes, from a very manmade island encroaching into the sea to a more natural sand dune island.
The high and low tide level on the Great Yarmouth Sea front informed the height of the contour lines on the island showing a understanding and response to the site and the environment. I have shown resilience through bad critiques, by ignoring the negatives and focus on the work that needs improving.
