Yasmin Clarke uses portraiture to tell stories; stories of individuals, stories of people, stories of experiences. Primarily as a portrait artist Clarke engages you as the viewer by putting a heavy focus on eyes, capturing emotion through the expression of the sitter. The portraits provide a moment in time from the pandemic reinforcing the significance of our individual experiences touching on mental health and wellbeing. Clarke intends for the viewer to acknowledge a sense of togetherness with the aim of uniting her viewers through reflection and remembrance.
