My degree has improved my understanding of visual narratives and the application of illustration within the creative industry. As an illustrator/designer, I am actively increasing my awareness of the creative industry, allowing me to expand my skill set and knowledge. I can adapt my current working style to suit various creative needs. Whilst studying, I have focused on children’s mental health and how the subject is currently represented through children’s literature. I have undertaken various collaborative projects, including contributions to the publication team. Building on my Adobe creative suite skills, I assisted in the editing and design process of making a collaborative publication. These transferable skills have allowed me to realise the benefits of working as a team. Finalising part of my degree under lockdown conditions helped me improve my online communication skills. These skills and experiences, plus the flexibility I gained, have prepared me for remote work.
