BA (Hons) Textile Design
I am a Textile Designer practicing in knit and print. I interpret visual sources, collecting inspiration through photography, drawing, print, light, and colour, which I translate into textile pieces. I like to include both old and new techniques in my practice, experimenting, analysing, and incorporating historic and contemporary styles. My knowledge of both knitting and textile print works particularly well together when designing side by side knit and pattern collections.
I like to collaborate with others and find it encourages new ideas and keeps my work contemporary. Currently a key driver for me is sustainability, particularly my concern for textile waste. I like to consider the use of compostable or recyclable materials before using new and like to inspire others to do the same.
Cultural exploration has had a positive impact on my knowledge and growth as a person and has given me design inspiration, for example past trips to Japan and Finland.
