Amanda Yan
BA (Hons) Fine Art
My projects focus on the Chinese social and political environment. Whether they are paintings or sculptures, my installations effectively convey my ideas. These projects deepened my understanding of the human condition and individuality within abnormal social realities, such as the Shanghai lockdown in April 2022. Despite the pandemic, I worked at Linda Gallery in Beijing for six months and volunteered for various art-related endeavours.
I have gained exhibition experience at notable venues such as the V&A, Olympia, Alexandra Palace, Ely Cathedral and Babylon Arts Centre. I won first prize in the British Youth Drawing Competition. I am also part of my course’s curation team, exhibiting alongside my peers. Looking to the future, I plan to explore different presentation approaches such as online exhibitions, which offer versatility beyond physical limitations. My goal is to incorporate art therapy elements that authentically evoke diverse emotions and feelings in the audience.
