Sophie Young
BA (Hons) Fine Art
During my time in and out of university, I have focused mainly on developing my painting. My interests varied from meticulously painting the texture of silk to landscapes bathed in colour. These are the things that I have been most enthusiastic about painting, I enjoy making them as realistic as possible but I also aim to work in a more abstract way.
I have been able to work on multiple collaborative projects with different people where we could share ideas and work around each other’s interests and styles in order to complete the project, which has allowed me to gain experience in working on and completing work with other people.
In my spare time, as well as painting landscapes, I take on commissions in which I do pencil-tone animal and human portraits. I enjoy spending lots of time focusing on the details of the drawing, and these commissions have helped me to develop my skill in drawing and improve my ability to meet deadlines.
