My work has been very close to me, as I view it as a piece of myself. My work uses nature, natural forms, and a bit of science to represent my feelings towards the relationship art has with life and its documentation. I represent this complex relationship with iterative prints, sculptures, and digital illustrations.
I often try to work as closely to nature as I can, taking direct spore prints and hand-burnishing tree slices. This creates the most authentic piece possible.
The people around me tend to have a significant influence on my work, either providing a shared memory or allowing me to honour their life stories in a piece. Other times it is simply my appreciation for nature and what it provides us. Overall I believe my artwork is an extension of myself. A microscopic glance into my relationship with the world around me, and how we live in unison with nature.
