Emma Turner

BA (Hons) Illustration

Book cover redesign of Vladimir Nabokov's, Lolita. Depicting a pink glowing lampshade, off centre, with a blurred spider silhouette, looming behind. Back cover includes a large pink textured spider shape.

Often focusing on pattern, my work is decorative, design led, and inspired by object and colour. Combining analogue and digital methods, I am versatile and work well in a range of media, recently expanding into printmaking with lino.

Book Cover redesign of Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar. Depicting an illustrated rug with avocado, fig, and fern imagery.

My work surrounds nostalgia, creating an emotive world of tenderness. Interested in the publishing industry and book cover design, I also own online paper goods shop, ‘Emma Swan Illustration’, focusing on art prints and greetings cards.

Digitally illustrated baked tomato and feta pasta recipe for Dilly Dally zine. Illustrations of ingredients on left side and handwritten recipe on the right.
Digitally illustrated objects and food portraying The Bicycle Shop café (Norwich) in a sketchy rustic style.
Digital pattern communicating a handwritten note left in a pre-loved copy of 'The Alchemist'. Pattern made up of object relating to the message.
