BA (Hons) Architecture
I am graduating from Norwich University of the Arts with a degree in BA Hons Architecture. During my final year at university, I have undertaken research into sustainable coastal architecture, developing a strong awareness of its main strategies and issues. My final year project is located at the Eastern bookmark of Hastings Coastline, which is under threat of being lost to erosion due to rising sea levels and climate change.
The project looks at how we can we inhabit the territory and use its resources without causing further damage, proposing an architectural language of representation that inhabits through dynamic landscape management and retention systems.
Furthermore, the project looks to become an archetype that can be rescaled and relocated to other coastal territories facing similar issues. Aiming to work with erosion rather than fight it, it helps to reclaim the coastal territory through architecture as it shifts to new ground.
