Jessie Barrett
BA (Hons) Illustration
Jessie Barrett is an illustrator with a love for composition and narrative, who uses dynamic compositions within her work to create bold and layered formats. She uses her interests outside of illustration, such as playing football, to inform her practice. For example, she is developing a freelance practice in sports illustration for promotion and advertisement, illustrating small briefs around niche sporting events.
Aside from an interest in sports, she has gained a love for reportage illustration, discovering the genre through her time at university. She is intrigued by how illustration can be used as an engaging platform to raise awareness and provide wider audiences to people from disadvantaged backgrounds globally.
This has great influence on how she approaches visual narrative projects, as well as her own reportage and mapmaking projects, which she always seeks opportunities for, alongside her developing sports illustration practice.
