Molly Carter
BA (Hons) Fine Art
My degree has been focused on the benefits of art for wellbeing, using my extensive research to understand how process-led activities can encourage creative freedom for children and adults that are struggling with their mental health. My abstract paintings are conceptual realisations of self-expression with a focus on making for the enjoyment of the process.
The overall understanding of my creative practice is interpretive to the audience and how they best relate to my paintings. Viewers are free to associate meaning if necessary or simply enjoy the colours and markings as they are. My ambitions to work in mental health have informed my creative practice and the process used when working.
In different work positions I have been exposed to difficult, complex situations, using my communication skills to stay calm in pressured environments. Consistent experience working as a support worker has provided me with the resilience and understanding to pursue a career in mental health.
