Daniel Firmin

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Fine Art work by Daniel Firmin showing a black and white drawing of abstract Gothic architecture.

I am a Fine Art graduate with a particular interest in the concept of mortality and how life’s transience can be displayed through visual artwork. This interest has guided the path of my degree, causing me to traverse a range of topics and mediums to explore this idea. Most recently, I have taken a particular interest in and been inspired by surrealism and architectural forms, using these subjects to create an infinite and abstract world, comprised of Gothic architecture and impossible structures.

Throughout my degree I have explored a range of mediums, gaining strong experience in painting, printmaking, and drawing at a large scale. I have also gained a range of professional skills as I have run a freelance business alongside university, giving me experience in customer handling and time management. I have also gained problem-solving skills and resilience through my creative practice, adjusting to work within certain constraints and submitting what is required.
