My work revolves around the human condition, specifically how day-to-day events can leave us feeling exhausted. For me, that exhaustion comes from experiences as a trans man, but I leave my work more ambiguous than these issues to allow the audience to get what they need from the work. Opening uncomfortable conversations between people to gain a deeper understanding of each other is my overarching concept.
Sculptural work in my practice acts as a vessel for the depressing thoughts, and the physical and mental exhaustion caused by everything life throws at us. Painting is more personal, acting as a form of escapism into a more lucid world; one that provides the comfort and security lacking in our daily lives. The world would be a better place if we just listened to each other and that is what my work aims to say.
