My practice is primarily painting, I focus on the female body and I paint self-portraits. I try and make them as organic as possible by not posing in ways that will hide my insecurities. I paint both using a mirror and from films I have taken of myself, pausing on frames I find interesting. Each time I go back to the painting the frame will be slightly different which I feel adds more movement and life to the painting.
Throughout university, I have developed my communication, teamwork, organisation, and curation skills while working on exhibitions over the last three years. Particularly the 2nd year exhibition where in groups, we had to curate another group of artists’ work. Colour is important to me in my self-portraits, I rarely plan what colours to use beforehand and rather work intuitively, using whatever colours I am drawn to at that moment and what I feel best to depict the feelings I have about my body at that time.
