Louise Hosking

BA (Hons) Design for Publishing

Acrylic Painting detailing the Guardians of the Galaxy escaping from a bar, chased by henchmen

As an artist and designer, I like to use my work as an outlet to test the boundaries of conventional portraiture and editorial design. Utilising recognisable proportions and grids and merging them with striking colours and perpetual concepts, I invite viewers to test their imagination to establish their own context and interpretations for each piece, both in terms of my illustrations and designs for publishing.

Digitally produced book spreads, visualising key facts about the fundamental structure of a virus.

My work is fueled by my love for entertainment and indulges in the ideology of escapism, as I work closely alongside clients to help visualise their own ideas and aim to incorporate their proposals with my technical skills to fabricate something that is in line with their desired outcome.

I favour using both realms of traditional and digital mediums of art, which gives me a broader range of styles to employ. Whether it be a series of magazine spreads or a hand-painted mural, building and morphing my work around a subject matter remains the key to my work.

Magazine spread created using hand-made collages, exploring an article about musicians influence in the realm of streetwear.
